Buses around the Riviera Maya region can be found at
the bus stations in Playa Del Carmen, Tulum, and Cancun. To find out what
locations each bus will stop at, just check the schedules posted in the
stations.
First-Class buses are highly recommended if you are
traveling between two major stations like Cancun and Playa del Carmen.
Second-Class buses are great for exploring the
beautiful beaches and stops along the way. They may have fewer amenities
like no air-conditioning. But, the most convenient aspect is that the
driver will stop anywhere you want if there is a place to pull over.
Fares depend on where you are going and which class of
bus you are taking. In general, it is a great way to get around the region
inexpensively.
Taxis
Taxis are not hard to find. Many times they're waiting for
you outside your hotel.
Prices within the area are a set price, but ask your hotel what a
reasonable fare is before you head out. If you want to hire a taxi to take
you to Chichén-Itzá or around the Riviera Maya, expect to pay about $30
per hour, as they feel they are also providing guide services.
Negotiate the price before you get in the taxi.
